Machakos High court on Tuesday gave a 10-day ultimatum to Kathiani police officers to conclude investigating into a murder case of three men alleged to be thieves.
The three; Daniel Kyalo, Ben Musyoka and Mutuku Musyoka early last week were beaten by mob justice and later burned to death, after they were suspected of theft at a home in Kalingile location in Kathiani Constituency.
The owners of the home where the incident occurred, Benjamin Matheka and Snow Mbithe, a couple, on Tuesday appeared before Machakos Deputy Registrar for the mention of their case.
Speaking while giving her ruling in Machakos high court, Jane Makungu ordered the officers from Kathiani to close the investigation within ten days, to enable enough witnesses and information on the case.
“Officers investigating this case have ten days to produce a viable suspect and information in the mob murder of the three men,” said Makungu.
Makungu further ruled that the couple be remanded as investigations are underway.
The couples’ four young children have been put under the care of a children’s home before the parents’ case is concluded.
The case will be heard again on March 17 this year.
