Suna West MP Joseph Ndiege has called upon security personnel in Nyanza to investigate ballooning cases of insecurity in the county.
Ndiege said that recently, murder cases have been rampant in the county and unfortunately, the officers have not shown their commitment in investigating the matter.
He said the officers have not so far made any arrests, adding that there is laxity among security personnel in the county.
The legislator, who is also a member of the parliamentary security committee, said that the committee is not going to give room to any insecurity.
“Officers who are not serving the people as required will not be tolerated since they are putting lives of Kenyans at risk,” said Ndiege.
He added: “The parliamentary committee on security will propose a law that will ensure that security personnel sign performance contracts.”
He said the bill would ensure that the officers do not sleep on their job.
At the same time, the lawmaker appealed to all county governments to work closely with the security personnel to enhance security countrywide.
The MP added that cases of insecurity were not an individual role, urging every citizen in Kenya to change their attitudes on matters of security and be responsible.
