Kisumu county commissioner Maalim Mohamed has urged concerned bodies to inspector schools to avert disasters.
Maalim has directed deputy county commissioners to liaise with sub-county directors of education to establish whether they meet required standards.
He was reacting after a fire tragedy at Sigoti Complex Girls’ School, Nyakach subcounty.
During the Friday incident, two dormitories were razed.
Mohamed said some schools have not complied with the laid regulations.
“What I have witnessed in Sigoti is a mess. Beds have even been put in corridors. The commissioners and education directors should visit the schools to ensure such a mess is corrected immediately to avert disasters,” he said.
