Immediate former Tusker FC assistant coach Francis Baraza has returned to Chemelil Sugar as head coach.

The former Muhoroni Youth, Sony Sugar and Western Stima tactician left Tusker in April 2018 after he was sacked alongside Ugandan coach Sam Timbe after a series of underwhelming performances.

Chemelil who are struggling in the league has turned to their former tactician to salvage their season. Baraza left Chemelil for Tusker FC in January 2017 joining as an assistant to Ugandan coach George Nsimbe. 

He later served as Tusker interim coach when Nsimbe was fired before reverting to his assistant coach’s position when Timbe was named head coach.

“Baraza has returned. He was in charge of training over the weekend and he will officially be unveiled on Monday. We lost most of our experienced players and the squad we currently have is relatively young, we needed a coach who can get the best out of them,” a club official speaking on condition of anonymity told the media.

Baraza will be assisted by Charles Odera who has been in charge of the team since April when then head Coach Patrick Odhiambo ditched the club and joined rivals sony sugar.

Mass exodus- Chemelil’s financial challenges have seen the team lose 17 players these June. John Waw, John Kuol, Maxwell Onyango, Amani Kyata, Philip Muhuma, Faraj Ominde, Benjamin Oketch, Yusuf Juma and Collins Neto are some of the players that ditched the club for rivals.
