Speaking on Thursday during an event organized in honor of orphans, Ms Veronica Wangui, who deputizes Masaba North deputy county commissioner, revealed that the region has recorded few cases of cattle rustling in the duration of two months than in 2015.

“I want to thank Gesima residents for great work you are doing to combat cattle rustling. The cases have reduced drastically in a period of three months and this is a good sign that people are getting out of that primitive culture,” she said.

“You have worked well with the administration and through you; we have recovered cattle and even arrested suspects who are currently facing prosecution. This crime can only be fully combated if we continue working together as a team,” she added.

Wangui also lauded chiefs and their assistants for working closely with the local people to gather intelligence for the sake of eradicating the vice.

“When I was reporting here few months ago, I got scared on how we can tackle rustling but fortunately, our chiefs and assistants have worked hard with you to bring these successes. We can build on to narrow these crimes to zero rates,” said the Gesima assistant deputy county commissioner.
