In the press release to media houses Monday, the Commission's manager of communication and corporate affairs Tabitha Mutemi said at no point did the poll's body verify the authenticity of signatures presented in support of Cord's Okoa Kenya initiative, adding that any mark was admitted as an intention or consent by the a petitioner.

"The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission would like to make it clear that it did not at any point verify the authenticity of signatures presented in support of the Okoa Kenya initiative. Any mark was admitted as an intention or consent by a petitioner," said Mutemi.

She further said some signatures lacked crucial details such as national ID or passport numbers.

"The commission did not reject a single signature because of its structure or formation. The records that were rejected were those that were not found in the voters register. Some records had signatures but without ID or passport numbers while others had just names and no other entries," it read in part.

Cord has lately hit out at the IEBC claiming it rejected its signatures unfairly.
