Nyamira County secretary Erick Aori has said the automated revenue collection system will commence soon as the Governor John Nyagarama led administration seeks to fight graft in revenue collection.
Speaking in Nyamira town on Tuesday, Aori said the county has partnered with the Commission for Revenue Allocation [CRA], a move he said will help stem corruption in revenue collection.
The automation will involve all revenue streams such as single business permits, parking, land rates and market dues, he added.
“We have been losing much of our revenue because of some issues but soon, the county will commence collecting revenue digitally to end corruption,” said Aori.
He also said the county has created 120 parking spaces in Nyamira town, and with increased revenue collection, more parking space will be created.
“The money we collect as revenue is being used for development and we need to be careful in this sector,” he added.
The county secretary challenged businessmen/traders to always pay their taxes and levies to foster development.
