Individuals found guilty of misappropriating the Sh105 million Ward Development Fund will have to refund the cash, a County Assembly Committee has resolved.

New Ward Development Fund Committee chairman Edwin Anayo said officials implicated in the mismanagement of the Fund set a side to help fund development projects in Wards will refund the money.

Anayo who was sworn in on Thursday last week said the County Assembly will do all at its disposal to protect development money.

"A lot of expectations await me, but I want to ensure I oversee the executive without influence and restore the committee’s image," he said.

He was elected after the County Assembly on Tuesday reconstituted the Ward Development Fund Committee following the alleged misuse of Sh105 million.

The committee comprises 11 members after the number was cut from 17.

The members include Aggrey Ogosi (East Seme), Gabriel Ochieng (Kondele), Maurice Aloo (Ahero), Jane Omollo (nominated), Samuel Ong’ow (Masogo Nyang’oma) and Maina Koko (North Nyakach).

Others are Nereah Okombo (Manyatta B), Samuel Ombogo (North West Kisumu), Bob Ndolo (nominated), Philip Anayo (Milimani-Market) and Caroline Owen (Kisumu North).

The report bearing names of the new members was tabled before the Assembly by majority leader Marlin Olero.

Assembly Speaker Ann Adul had on October 25, directed for the reconstitution of the Committee.

The Sh105 million loss is still being investigated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Ten MCAs and four signatories to the Ward Fund account have so far been questioned with regard to the loss.
