Cord has vowed to hold demos every Monday in a bid to send the commissioners home but the government led by President Uhuru insist that the right channels be followed in disbanding the commission.

But the elders now say the protests could drive the country back to the dark moments as it was witnessed in the 2007-08 post-election violence if the issue is not addressed urgently.

“We urge the government to have a round table dialogue with Cord leaders. Here conflicts will be discussed and resolutions made as people are not interested in protests which have been witnessed,” Johana Menjo, Ogiek elders spokesman stated.

The elders reinstated that Cord is the major stakeholder in IEBC and their grievances should never be ignored.

“As the country, we should learn from history. We as the leaders will continue uniting communities especially as we head the general elections next year,” he added.
