The Ogiek Community in Nakuru County is urging the county government to support them in marketing their honey.
Ogiek Community Chairman, Joseph Towett, said that they have harvested 60 kilograms of honey in the last two weeks.
“We have purified the honey and stored it in air tight containers. It is ready to be sold. We have a lot of honey but no market,” notes Towett.
Towett claimed that their honey is pure and it is not addictive like some honey brands in the supermarket. John Longoronek said that they relied on the honey to raise school fees and to cater for their basic needs.
“This is our main source of income. However we currently do not know where to sell it. We hope that people will consider buying our honey since it is pure,” added Towett.
