Siaya Members of County Assembly on Friday approved the nomination of Jaoko Oburu as Executive nominee for Trade and Industry.
Jaoko is the son of former Bondo MP Dr. Oburu Odinga who is now serving in the regional Parliament, East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA.
Oburu's son had earlier been nominated for Tourism CEC position but Governor Cornel Rasanga was forced to submit his name afresh after it emerged that he was not fit for the portfolio.
Many have interpreted the appointment as political considering that Dr. Oburu and Governor Rasanga are key allies.
Dr. Oburu who is NASA leader elder brother, was very instrumental in Rasanga's re-election bid having had fallen out with majority of the county's elected leaders.
The governor's bitter rival in the gubernatorial race, former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo had ganged with his Gem counterpart Jakoyo Midiwo to send Rasanga home but Dr. Oburu, then nominated MP, came to his defense and ensured that he secured victory.
