Former Assistant Minister Grace Ogot will be buried next Saturday at her Yala home.

Ogot died mid this month in Nairobi Hospital where she has been taken for treatment. 

According to the funeral committee chairman, Joseph Oluoch, the date has been agreed by the committees preparing for her burial.

Speaking to journalists Oluoch said that the committee have planned a mini fundraising for the funeral arrangement at Ndano falls resort in Yala town today (Sunday) to supplement the little funds which has been collected.

Oluoch said they are expecting dignitaries to come to give their last respect to the renown writer cum politician.

“Ogot was a respected woman. She was the first woman in Kenya to be appointed in the cabinet,” said Oluoch. 

He pleaded with residents to observe maximum peace during the burial ceremony.

Ogot served as Gem Member of Parliament in 1980s.

She is also a renown writer. she is well known for her first novel, the promised land and short stories collection land without thunder.
