[Photo|Odeke Ojaamong]The County government of Busia needs over Sh20 million to vaccinate all animals against Foot and Mouth and Lumpy Skin diseases across the County. Governor Sospeter Ojaamong confirmed that his administration was looking for money from the emergency kitty to buy vaccines and vaccinate all animals that had not been affected by the infectious and fatal viral disease that affects hoofed animals."With the current financial status of counties it may not be easy to raise the amount required to undertake the exercise," he said.Ojaamong has appealed to the national government which used to supply the vaccine for free to chip in and avert the looming catastrophe in the dairy industry, since the disease had spread to three counties of Busia, Kakamega and Bungoma. "I am appealing to farmers in these neighbouring counties to stop the movement of animals until the two diseases are fully contained," the governor indicated, Thursday.
