Busia Governor, Sospeter Ojaamong, has now launched an attack on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party National Elections Board after nullification of the county gubernatorial primaries results.
The results were nulliefied moments after Ojamong had been declared the winner and awarded with a certficate.
Speaking on Friday, Ojamong said the board was being unfair to him due to their own unpreparedness.
“It is unfair to party members. If they are not ready to conduct the elections let them tell people and prepare properly. But otherwise we were not satisfied with what transpired,” said Ojamong.
According to the governor who is facing stiff competition from Funyula lawmaker Paul Otwoma, candidates had committed a lot of efforts and resources towards the exercise.
He also accused the Judith Pareno led board of prematurely nullifying the results without an official complaint.
Ojamong was declared the winner with 92,358 votes against Funyula Otuoma's 63,752 votes.
"In view of the above reasons, the board has nullified the Busia governor nomination results. The poll will be repeated on April 25, 2017," read a statement from the board.
The board said the results for the other seats will remain as they were received scheduling the gubernatariol polls for Tuesday.
