Women in Business Director Agnes Mwingi has urged the women that with self-help groups many ideas are brought together something which will be beneficial.

“Most of you do not have a formal source of income, but if we can come together and find ways of assisting each other financially, then this idea of depending on our husbands will be a thing of the past,” said Mwingi.

Mwingi said that with such groups, income generating projects can be established where individuals can learn and pursue such projects on their own.

“For a long time women have been known to be inferior beings in the society and treated with less dignity but it is high time we prove to the world that we are also able just like our male counterparts. We should not wait any longer,” she said.

Mwingi was addressing women at the Ojolla Pentecostal church on Friday morning during a workshop on Women Economic Empowerment that began on Monday and set to end on Sunday.

She also challenged the county governments to set aside adequate funds meant to empower women and other minority groups in the society.
