Deputy President William Ruto has called on Kiambu residents not to tolerate the OKOA Kenya movement spearheaded by Coalition for Reform and Democracy (Cord).
Ruto says that Kenya needs to invest in security and not an election which will siphon billions of taxpayers’ money.
The deputy president said that an election in the country now is a waste of resources and Kenyans should not accept the idea of the opposition.
He said that OKOA Kenya referendum is a vehicle towards 2017 general election which will be transformed into a political party just like the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in the previous years.
Ruto has expressed his concerns with Cord on their push for the referendum yet the only concern Kenya has now is security and not petty politics that will drain off tax payers’ money in election
The DP who was speaking in Thika Town, when he launched the Educational and Infrastructural Support Programme for Persons with Disabilities at Joytown Special School, Kiambu County on Wednesday, said that he is optimistic that the referendum will not prevail and appeals to Kenyans not to condone petty politics from leaders who seek political existence.
He further revealed that a Jubilee member who will support the movement should be regarded as an outsider since the referendum is based on political interest and not development.
Ruto cited Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto who is involved in the Pesa Mashinani movement saying they are rebels whose aim is to tarnish the country.
