Speaking on Sunday at Marindi High school in Bogichora ward on a prize giving function that attracted region politicians, he urged students to embrace hard work in their education, which will better their lives in future.

"Parents pay alot of money for your fees in school. You should work hard and gain from the cost of your education," he said.

"We also worked hard in studies when we were your age. You should in turn put more effort in academics," added Mong'are.

The incumbent Nyamira Senator also asked politicians from the region to avoid colluding with public school administration, claiming that such intervention undermines quality of education.

"My plea to my fellow politicians is to ask them to seize intervening with our public school administration. Politics in school administration loosens the education quality," said Okong'o.
