The Bungoma Senator launched his presidential bid recently at Muliro gardens in Kakamega, causing jitters within opposition coalition Cord with a section of Cord legislators accusing him of causing rifts within the coalition.

In an interview with the reporter on Thursday, Mong’are accused the ODM party of belittling their partners in the coalition and challenged Cord leader Raila Odinga to support Warangkula’s bid.

“The constitution protects any Kenyan who wishes to run for presidency and so Wetangula is not an exception. He has been a top government Minister and I think he is equally ready for the task,” said the Ford Kenya Senator.

“As Ford Kenya, the ODM party must treat us equally in the coalition. Regardless of 2013 MoU, the three Cord principals have a chance to be flag bearer in 2017 polls and for this case, I call upon Odinga to support my party leader,” he added.

Mong’are also blamed the media for allegedly exaggerating troubles in the opposition saying it was just but internal’ democracy.

“Just because we are in Cord doesn’t mean we cannot differ. The media should desist from exaggerating our internal wrangles. When wetangula goes for the big seat it doesn’t mean he has fallen out with his equal partners,” he added.

He urged Wetangula to try his luck and slammed Ford Kenya critics saying the party had a nationwide following.
