Okoth has been praised by residents who have referred to him as a visioned legislator who is after changing people lives in the slums.

"It is very hard for a leader like Okoth to get involved with nurturing talents in the slums. Other MPs have neglected the constituents who voted them in parliament. Each and every time something good happens in Kibera, Hon. Okoth must be at the front line," said Mary Muthama.

Chris Ng'ang'a, another resident, said that Okoth is not tribalistic at all and helps each and everyone despite where they come from.

"Youths from all tribes living in the slums are given opportunities to exploit their talents. Hon. Okoth is more than a leader. He is dedicated to change the lives of people in the slums and other leaders should copy him," Ng'ang'a remarked.

"With Okoth's leadership, many youths will be transformed in the slums and soon youths abusing drugs will drop and change. In the past few years, Okoth has sponsored ball games to our youths, awareness events where out youths get an education and abandon drug abuse. We as residents of the slum are happy. We believe the lives will change and we urge him to ensure good houses are constructed in the slums before he retires from politics," said John Onyuri.
