Okoth took to his Facebook account to post the good news.

‘‘Nimetenda na nitazidi kutenda! Leadership matters and promises fulfilled, Kibera healthcare ambulance will be delivered next week,’’ read the post.

His supporter, Vinnie Madola welcomed the development saying this will help Kibera be on top of the map. He proudly called the MP his MP of choice and lauded his efforts.

Other Kibera residents on Monday said that the ambulances were the best thing to that has been done as many health facilities in the area lacked ambulances.

‘‘We have been suffering a lot. A while back, a train knocked down a child and residents had to hold a quick fundraising to help the parents get money to hire a taxi to take the child to Kenyatta National Hospital. I want to thank the MP for buying the ambulance for Kibera people,’’ said Eunice Nyiva, a resident.

Another resident, Boniface Ongeri said the ambulance will help save many lives in the slums since some people have in the past died due to arriving at the hospital late. He attributed the lateness to the residents not having an ambulance to rush them to the hospitals.
