Amid calls from various national and international humanitarian agencies to have the IEBC stalemate solved in a sober manner, Kibera MP has faulted a section of the Kenyan media for being bias when reporting on issues.
Okoth expressed his dissatisfaction on the fact that the local media have steered off their obligations of holding a neutral position on political matters to taking biased sides, which he says is very risky to the nation.
"Why does a supposedly neutral media house @TheStarKenya use partisan hashtags like #StopCordProtests and #IEBCMustGo? This is very risky for the country,'’ read part of Okoth's Facebook post.
Okoth's sentiments come at a time when the Kenya Film Association warned journalists and local TV channels against airing content that is deemed unsuitable for family viewing. The filming agency had raised concerns that some media houses were in the habit of publishing and airing content that was classified as being too graphic with traumatising scenes.
The same sentiments were also raised by the interior ministry warning citizens against posting uncensored pictures from terror activities that could inflict tension and fear to Kenyans.
