Okoth on his Facbook page said that his dream is to see every school in Kibera have an arts and talent program. He has been on the forefront in asking children from the slum to embrace education and to some extent, he has given them bursaries to cater for their fees as they join secondary and tertiary institutions.

During the annual education days held in Kibera, the MP usually has a segment where he honours talents by awarding schools that do well in co curricular activities. Among the schools who are said to be talented are Magoso Primary school which is also known as the Kibera school of talent and Shadrack Kimalel, which has a passion in lawn tennis.

Experts say all work without play makes jack a dull boy. The parents in the areas have been called upon to support their children’s talent by encouraging them to participate in co-curricular activities. Some youths have also said they value talent since it is what gives them their daily meal.
