The Kibera MP's office will soon conduct a mentorship program for high school students in the slums.
100 students are expected to attend the program which will be conducted under the Education First, Elimu Kwanza initiative, a campaign which was started by Kibera MP, Ken Okoth. He has used the campaign to help many youths in the slums go back to school.
Okoth, using his Facebook page revealed that the programme will be sponsored through CDF.
‘‘The initiative is aimed at equipping the scholars with lifelong skills relevant in the job market,’’ read the post.
The constituency parliamentary liaison officer, Vincent Ayako said the office conducts the mentorship program every after closure of schools.
‘‘We have been doing this for quite a long period. We prefer organising mentorship classes for the scholars because we know after school, they will need a job,’’ said Ayako on phone.
