According to Okumbi, Cheche was deployed in the position so as to create balance in the squad.

The New York Cosmos defender started alongside Victor Wanyama in Central midfield against but had to drop back to the defence after several changes were made in the team during the final minutes of the game.

"He used to play there and then when playing Wanyama in the midfield you need to analyze his actions in the pitch. If he is moving forward to help the attack you need a player that will sit back and bring balance at the centre and that was Cheche's task," said Okumbi.

Okumbi who has gone ten matches unbeaten was speaking to the press after his team's 2-1 win against the visitors.
