With political temperatures rising in readiness for the next general elections in less than 12 months, political 'dinosaurs' who once dominated the political arena for more than two decades and more are warming up for a political comeback. The list consists of former MPs, cabinet ministers and senior civil servants who either served in Moi regime, Kibaki regime or in both. Those who have already shown interest in elective posts are former Tinderet MP and ODM chairman, Henry Kosgey, former cabinet ministers, Noah Wekesa, Chirau Ali Mwakwere, Ramadhan Kajembe and former head of Civil Service Francis Kimemia. Though many doubt whether they would be elected, their entry has sent youthful aspirants into panic owing to their political experience, connections, and bigger war chest. Former Webuye MP, and Forestry Minister, Noah Wekesa was defeated by Patrick Khaemba in his bid to be the first Trans Nzoia governor in 2013, now claims Khaemba has failed ti impress. He admits his old age will be used to campaign against his bid but maintains that his age which translates to experience will prove instrumental in transforming the county. "They used it (age) last time against me.If indeed, age affects one's ability to lead, how come president Kenyatta saw it as an asset when he appointed me to chair the merger of parties affiliated to Jubilee Alliance? It is immaterial. A lot of money has been stolen in Trans Nzoia, has age got to be with that?" stated Wekesa.Ramadhan Seif Kajembe, a former Kwanza MP, said he will be vying yet for another time for the Mombasa Senator post."For now, let me focus on Kenya Ferry Services but at the end of the year,I will be launching my senate bid," said Kajembe.Mwakwere and Kosgey are interested in Kwale and Nandi gubernatorial seats respectively.Other old guards who have also shown interest in political return are former Roads Minister Franklin Bett and David Musila.
