Winnie Kaburu has joined the race for Meru gubernatorial seat.
Ms Kaburu was Prof James Ole Kiyapi’s running mate in the 2013 general election.
She said on Tuesday that she will vie for the seat, held by Governor Peter Munya, on an ODM ticket.
She joins the incumbent, Senator Kiraitu Murungi, Dr Kilemi Mwiria, Dr Kiambi Atheru, Shadrack Kirori, Mwenda Mbijiwe and MP Kinoti Gatobu in the tight race, making her the only female aspirant for the governor seat.
“I am the change that Meru needs. Servant leadership is what I want to give to my people,” she said on Tuesday.
Ms Kaburu said she was still scouting for a running mate.
She exuded confidence in clinching the seat, despite vying on an ODM ticket in the perceived Jubilee Party stronghold.
