Kajiado Governor Joseph Lenku has now unveiled a multi-billion garbage management plan that will see relocation of the Ngong town dumping site.
The site has been a security threat for residents for years.
Lenku on Friday noted that a foul smell comes from the site and that people's health is at risk.
He added that the site is also a den of criminals from Kadiado North who have been hiding at the location.
“During my campaigns, I promised the people of Kajiado that I would undertake serious waste management in Ngong and Kitengela. Already, Sh2.1 billion has been set aside for this project," he said.
He was speaking during a tour of the area where he was accompanied by Environment PS Charles Sunkuli as well as area MP-elect Joseph Manje.
