Former DPP Keriako Tobiko. [Photo/capitalfm.co.ke]Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to appoint former Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to cabinet.
Lenku said the appointment is a gesture that the president values the Maasai community adding it was an appreciation for the community's overwhelming support for the president.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on June 5, nominated Tobiko to the position of Cabinet Secretary during his address to the nation.
"This is a clear show of the value the president accords the Maasai community and in extension pastroralist communities," the former Interior Cabinet Secretary said in Diani.
Tobiko previously served as a Commissioner to the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission before being appointed Director of Public Prosecutions.
Others nominated to the Cabinet subject to vetting and approval by Parliament are former Turkana Senator John Munyes and former Marsabit Governor Ukur Yattani.
Kenyatta also retained six Cabinet Secretaries under his second term including Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia, ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru and Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter.
