OLX logo[PHOTO/techmoran.com]Adverts posted on OLX website will now elapse after two months in case the items are not sold off within the period, the organization has revealed.
According to OLX country manager, Peter Ndiang’ui, the adverts will only be refreshed upon the expiry of time if the item has not been sold and will be considered as new. He said the measures are taken to ensure that only fresh adverts stay on the site.
Before an item was sold, the seller was required to put down the item manually. Sellers would be reluctant to do this, after they have made a sale, increasing the number of stale adverts on the site.
“We seek to make improvements on our website for better customer experience. We are now shortening the period adverts will stay active on our site for two months. After the two months lapse, the advert will automatically become inactive,” he said.
He said the firm wants to ensure that its customers get fresh content and variety of recent items from OLX when searching for what they are looking for. Based on a recent analysis done by OLX, an advert on the site that meets all the requirements including quality images, a clear description, and a proper title has the ability to receive a minimum of three offers and make a sale in a day depending on the item category. Ndiang’ui said after two months, the number of offers made automatically decrease and the possibility to close a deal also declines.
