OLX Kenya has reduced advertising costs on their retail platform to tap more users during the festive season after a dip occasioned by political uncertainties.

The firm has also introduced featured adverts meant to help sellers pay a premium fee for higher visibility on the OLX website.

“To get these sellers selling even faster, we have now cut down our advert prices, thus giving their items more visibility for these products,” Peter Ndiang’ui  OLX chief executive said in a statement.

Home and furniture category ranks fourth among the top sellers because the group has more than 50 percent, consumer-to-consumer sellers. Electioneering slowed down the length of time items were sold hence the introduction of the promotion and price cuts.

“We hope to have the home and furniture as well as mobile phone users take up the featured listing and sell faster on our platform.” The featured adverts now cost Sh800 for seven days, Sh1,400 for two weeks and Sh2,500 for 30 days down from Sh3,500, 10,000, and 18,000 respectively. OLX also noted that half of the adverts posted in this category receive at a minimum, one potential buyer within seven days.
