Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has accused Governor Hassan Joho of misusing public funds.
The senator has raised a red flag concerning the expenditures accrued during two projects that were launched concurrently in the county.
Omar singled out the vision 2035 flagship project and the bursary award programme that took place last week at the ASK showground.
"I wish to find out the amount of money that was splashed in the two events. I vow to take up the matter with the senate,” said Omar.
He added: "Millions of shillings were wasted and cannot be audited. I am going to request the senate to investigate the amount used in the two events and their socio economic impacts to the county,” said Omar.
Speaking on Saturday when he opened a new office in Kizingo, the senator accused Joho of wasting public funds by erecting billboards everywhere to advertise the Vision 2035 project.
Omar also faulted the governor for inviting residents at a stadium to issue them with bursaries, terming the move as a waste of money.
“We will investigate how much was spent at that event too and know how much was spent to host the chief guest Raila Odinga. It was ill advised to invite the Cord leader to a bursaries programme,” said Omar.
