Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to ban the opposition’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) once he is sworn in office for a second term.Omar said the opposition’s resistance movement is illegal and should not be given the green light to operate.Speaking to journalists on Thursday in Mombasa, the former Senator likened the movement to criminal groups whose agenda he claimed is to cause mayhem in the country.Omar who dumped the opposition and joined Jubilee early this month alleged that NRM leader Raila Odinga wants to cause anarchy in the country.“The government should not allow NRM to operate and its leaders must be questioned on their motive,” the former Wiper secretary general said on Thursday.Omar pleaded with Kenyans not to support the movement, arguing that resistance movements have bad history world over, adding that the country could be staring into war if opposition leaders are allowed to operate the movement.On Wednesday during a rally at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, Raila announced that NASA had transformed into a National Resistance Movement to fight for electoral justice and equality in the country.
