Mombasa gubernatorial hopeful, senator Hassan Omar has re-affirmed his intentions to oust governor Ali Hassan Joho.
He asked relevant institutions not to bar Joho from contesting for the seat, after revelations that he allegedly forged his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate to vie in 2013, saying he was ready for him.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) claimed that Joho did not seat for the exams, but forged his KCSE certificate to vie for the county's governorship, in 2013. Some Jubilee administration allied leaders wants him barred from vying, in August 8 elections.
Joho however came clean, saying he did the exams in 1993, scoring a mean grade of D-.
Omar who also doubles as the Wiper party secretary general, said he was not afraid of Joho, and will face him squarely on the ballot.
"Me I want that D- guy to be on the ballot box. He should not be barred from contesting as governor. I want to face him because I know I will beat him, since he has done nothing for Mombasa. i am not afraid of him,'' Omar said in Swahili.
Omar was speaking when he attended a campaign launch, of Changamwe MP aspirant Daniel Muange, through Wiper party ticket, Sunday.
Joho, an ODM deputy party leader, expressed optimism that he would be on the ballot, to retain his seat.
