The senator will be facing off with the incumbent Hassan Joho and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti in the nominations.

Speaking during a youth forum at Alidina Visram High School, Omar said that he is ready for any means that would be used to arrive at a joint candidate for Mombasa governor's seat, since he has the support of Mombasa residents.

"I am confident I will be Cord's flagbearer because I have the support of Mombasa residents," he said.

The senator said he does not have any personal differences with Governor Joho, adding that he is only demanding for transparency and accountability from the county administration.

"We will continue to demand for accountability and transparency. It is not a personal war with anyone,” he said.

Several legislators have criticised the alleged differences between Joho, Omar and Awiti over the county's top seat, saying they are tainting the coalition's image in Mombasa.
