This comes a few days after Ford Kenya deputy leader Bonny Khalwale urged Omar to support Yasri Bajabir, who will be vying for the Mombasa senatorial seat on a Ford-K ticket.

“Wiper shall field candidates in all other remaining posts including, governor, senator, MP, woman representative and MCA,” said Omar.

Speaking at Serena Hotel in Mombasa, Omar said the Wiper’s National Executive Committee agreed to fill all other positions except the presidency, where they would have joint nominations.

Khalwale and Cord leader Raila Odinga are among those who have been calling for joint nominations in the coalition, as they seek to win majority seats in the next general election.

Omar also urged members of the coalition to endorse a presidential candidate in good time.

“As a party, we have also decided that the Cord presidential flagbearer must be named within a specific period of time as we head to the general election,” said Omar.

“Jubilee has already identified its flagbearer. In Cord, we should also name our flagbearer in order to start campaigning before it’s too late,” he added.
