Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has dismissed a recent opinion poll that stated that governor Hassan Joho was on course for reelection.
According to Omar, Joho was sponsoring the opinion poll in order to influence voters.
The poll results released on Tuesday by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) found that Joho had an approval rating of 68 per cent.
Aspirant Suleiman Shahbal got a 15 per cent rating and was followed by Omar at seven per cent.
Speaking on Wednesday, Omar said that it was ironic for the NASA brigade to dispute surveys that put President Uhuru Kenyatta in the lead and quickly embrace those that favour them.
“That is hypocrisy of the highest order. I know for a fact that my brother Joho will win any opinion poll he pays for but not the main poll. Opinion polls don’t get you re-elected,” Omar said.
“You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see the narrative they are driving; that they are the lord kings of Mombasa and the Coast region,” he added.
