Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has downplayed allegations that there is rivalry brewing between Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Wiper Party.
Omar said the defections that have recently been witnessed across the two parties do not mean they are competing against each, adding that both parties are under the National Super Alliance (NASA). Addressing journalists at his Mombasa office on Friday, Omar said Wiper leaders have nothing against their ODM counterparts, adding that they are free to join them at their own volition if they find it necessary. “We are part of one house and so Wiper will not turn away anyone who seeks to be part this party whether it is from within or from outside the coalition,” said Omar, as quoted by Baraka FM. The Senator, who is also the Wiper Party secretary general clarified that former Cabinet Minister Chirau Makwere had not decamped from ODM to Wiper, as he was not a registered member of the Orange party.Omar has declared interest in the Mombasa gubernatorial seat which is currently being held by ODM Deputy Party leader Hassan Joho.
