Wiper Democratic Movement secretary general and Mombasa Senator Omar Hassan Omar has likened the re-election of the Jubilee government to ‘hell’ and challenged Kenyans to vote it out in 2017.
Omar, a former KNCHR commissioner, has been a fierce critic of the Jubilee government both in and out of Parliament.
Speaking on Tuesday during the wrap-up of Wiper tour in Kisii County, Omar said the country would experience another five more ‘tough’ years should Jubilee win next year's polls.
“Jubilee government has literally sabotaged our economy because the ordinary people are suffering daily. Unemployment of our youth is worsening simply because of rampant corruption. It’s just hell having them for another five years,” he said.
“The only favour we can do is to vote them out or else we face another five more tough years. Our country deserves better leadership than what Jubilee government has just shown us,” he added.
He also challenged Kenyans to shun tribalism and elect leaders based on their track record to avert ‘worsening disintegration.
“Tribalism has been an impediment of cohesiveness amongst our people. Let us elect leaders based on their track record rather than the tribe they come from,” he said.
