Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has hit out at National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders, terming them as propagandists and purveyors of empty rhetoric.Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV’s JKL show on Wednesday, Omar said opposition leaders are no longer fighting for issues affecting the common mwananchi, and are instead using underhand tactics to remain relevant in the political arena. Omar was responding to Jeff Koinange’s question on why a section of Kenyans has been referring to him as Vera Sidika. The former Wiper secretary-general, who unsuccessfully contested for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat, said he expected leaders in the opposition to express displeasure after he was attacked over his physical appearance.Omar said the leaders, including NASA co-principal and Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi instead laughed at him instead of castigating the remarks.“I can tell you without fear of contradiction that there is no issue-based politics anymore in this platform called NASA. And I can tell you Musalia Mudavadi was laughing like a 15-year-old when they said that,” said Omar.
