Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has hit out at his opponent Suleiman Shahbal for terming him politically inexperienced.Omar, who has declared interest in the Mombasa governor seat, said Shahbal should concentrate on his campaigns and leave him alone.“Such are leaders should not be voted in any public office whether in Mombasa or any other part of the country since they are only working towards extending their personal businesses and not serving locals,” said Omar. The Senator said his rivals Shahbal, Hezron Awiti and Hassan Joho were unfit to hold public office or run the Mombasa County government, since all of them are only focused on their businesses and other private investments.“I admit we need leaders who are development oriented in Mombasa but these three are only focusing on expanding their business through illegal issuance of government tenders,” said Omar. The Wiper Secretary General said the three are obsessed with how UEA is conducting its business forgetting that in the country only transparent and diligent people can serve the public. He claimed the three have failed in convincing locals to vote for them because of their leadership strategy.“Unless you change the leadership of this county, you will remain poor with all your problems being insolvent in the next 5 years, said Omar while addressing journalists at his office in Mombasa on Monday. He cautioned locals against voting for leaders who focus on their own selfish interest instead of having the sole agenda of uplifting resident's living standards. This comes after Shahbal said Omar lacked the experienced to lead Mombasa, sentiments that were reiterated by Awiti, who rubished Omar's manifesto for the county.
