Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has pledged to appoint a team of ten professionals to assist him in managing the affairs of the county if elected governor in the August general election.

The Senator, who spoke during the Institute of Certified Public Accountant annual conference at Whitesands Hotel on Wednesday, said the region has lagged behind in matters development due to lack of professionalism, adding that his government will address the same if given the mandate to take over leadership.

“Professionals are literally lethargic in issues of politics. But when I become governor, I will have to appoint 10 professionals to manage the county,” he said, as quoted by The Star.

The lawmaker, who has been a strong critic of the incumbent, Governor Hassan Joho, also questioned why professional and middle class Kenyans have not shown interest in the political arena.

“I do not know why in Kenya, professionals and the middle class do not engage in politics, but complain about everything and anything,” said the Senator.

He further reminded professionals not to keep questioning how the affairs of the county are being run when they have distanced themselves from the same.

“In the comfort of your sitting rooms, you are angry about everyone and everything, but do nothing about it. Your politics extends and ends in your living rooms,” he added.
