Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has criticised Governor Hassan Joho for backing the idea of holding joint National Super Alliance (NASA) nominations in the county.Omar said the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party, has the capability of fielding its own candidates hence no need for joint primaries, as suggested by a section of opposition leaders.“Wiper Party is now very strong and more organised unlike 2013 when it left everything to other parties in the coalition. We are now going to field candidates in all elective posts,” said Omar, as quoted by the Standard. Speaking during a telephone interview with the daily, Joho said he is well-prepared for joint nominations to prove that he is the strongest candidate in the gubernatorial race.“I am ready for a joint NASA nomination to prove that I am popular in Mombasa,” said Joho. Both Joho and Omar have affirmed that they have what it takes to clinch the seat during the forthcoming general poll. The race has also attracted Nyali MP Hezron Awiti who will be contesting against Omar for the Wiper ticket.
