Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has said he is yet to see a strong opponent who will deny him the Mombasa governor seat.
Speaking in his office on Saturday, Omar said it is time for the county to be liberated from poor leadership.
Omar said he decided to run for governor after realising Mombasa residents were going through a tough a time.
“Mombasa needed a saviour and that person is me, you know what you are going through as Mombasa residents. Let us all focus on changing the county leadership,” he said.
Omar, who was accompanied by his running mate Linda Shuma said he was aware of the tough political times awaiting him on the ground but was ready to tackle them head on.
“We will be opposed by our opponents, goons may be hired to deter us from our quest but am assuring you we will conquer,” said Omar.
The Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant assured residents that his will be an all-inclusive administration that will not discriminate on anyone.
Omar will battle it out with the incumbent Governor Hassan Joho, Jubilee’s Suleiman Shahbal , Vibrant Party of Kenya candindate Hezron Awitti, Daniel Munga Kitsao (Kadu Asili) and Anthony Mkalla Katana (UDP).
His running mate Linda Shuma appealed to residents not only in Mombasa but the entire Coast region to engage in peaceful campaigns.
Shuma said Omar was the best candidate to take over the county’s leadership.
“Let us all unite and ensure that we change the tourism destination of Mombasa,” she said.
