Speaking on Wednesday where his Wiper party also announced the selection of a special committee to investigate the party's rebels who have since defected to the Jubilee Party, the Wiper secretary general further said the coalition has only a few months to be in the opposition and is confident of winning the next elections.

''We are in the opposition for only the next nine months,'' said a confident Omar during a news conference in Nairobi.

Omar also said that the move taken by his party to punish and expel the errant members is aimed at benefiting the Jubilee party since it is weak and that is why President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto are poaching opposition leaders in a bid to strengthen themselves ahead of the polls.

''We are actually just trying to help Jubilee not to be a weak opposition after 2017 because when you start to poach opposition leaders it shows just how weak you are,'' said the Senator.

Some of the leaders in question are Joe Mutambu of Mwingi Central, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, John Munuve (Mwingi North), Kisoi Munyao of Mbooni and nominated MP Robert Mutemi.

This comes barely days after the party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said he had officially handed over the rebels to President Uhuru during this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations saying they no longer belong to him.

Wiper Party has taken the move only days after the Orange Party did the same with Ford Kenya too expected to follow suit soon.
