Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has pleaded with the Garre Council of Elders to let Mandera Senator Billow Kerrow seek re-election.
This comes after the council asked all current elected leaders to surrender their seats for a new crop of leaders in next year’s general election.
Speaking on Monday during a morning TV show, Omar expressed his dissatisfaction with the verdict made by the council, saying no other politician from North Eastern Kenya can match the Mandera senator's leadership skills and experience.
"If the Garre Council of Elders allowed me one plea, it is to please rotate the leadership as you may, but let Billow Kerrow come back," Omar said.
"I can tell you without fear of contradiction, Kerrow has been a formidable ally in the Senate. His support is bipartisan and whenever there's a matter that is right, it's right and if it's wrong, it's wrong. He is a dependable person in the Senate," he added.
