Mombasa Senator Omar Hassan has expressed his disappointment in the ODM party leader Raila Odinga for rubbishing the audit report on corruption in counties.
This comes after Cord principal Raila Odinga had claimed, during a news briefing on Wednesday, that the audit report was biased in Cord led administrations.
“Today I was disappointed to listen to a press conference in Mombasa by the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, he was saying these audit reports are merely opinions, I want to tell him these are not opinions,” he said during the Senate Proceeding on Wednesday.
“Corruption in this country is taking place everywhere in both Cord and Jubilee governments. If corruption is bad in Cord counties, it is bad in Jubilee, it is not right,” he added.
The senator further clarified that the position taken by Raila was not the position of the Wiper party, and asked that the affected governors must be ready to pay for the runaway corruption.
"I can say with firmness that Raila’s stand is not the stand of Wiper Democratic Movement. Wiper stands by the audit report of the Auditor-General," he said.
"That is why we want Governor Mutua to pay for his crimes and any other governor that has been adversely mentioned in the audit report to pay," he added.
