Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has vowed to stamp-out radicalization and drug abuse if elected governor.
Omar said the menaces pose serious threats to the county’s social, economic and political development.
The Senator observed that many young people have been radicalized and lured into criminal and terror gangs, adding that unemployment is to blame for the social evils involving youth.
He said his government if elected will focus on creating at least 50,000 job opportunities for the youth every year to stop them from engaging in drug abuse and radicalization.
The governor hopeful noted that many youth are falling prey to criminal and terror activities out of desperation.
“The only way to end crime and terror related activities is by creating employment for young people who most of the time fall vulnerable to extremist and militia groups,” said Omar, as quoted by the Standard.
Omar also said his administration will implement tough policies to curb drug trafficking.
He pleaded with residents to endorse his bid saying he will be their voice and defender of their rights.
