Mombasa Senator Omar Hassan has said that the National Super Alliance (NASA) will not tolerate politicians with fake academic paper once they ascend to power after the forthcoming general polls.

Speaking during the press conference at Renaissance Center on Thursday, Omar said that the opposition will arrest and prosecute leaders suspected of using fake papers to seek different elective posts while citing the case of Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.

“I can assure you that after NASA takes over, forgery will be one of the first matters that will go before our criminal jurisdiction. We cannot condone this,” he said, as quoted by Star.

According to Omar, leaders with fake academic qualifications should step aside to pave way for investigations since they are in office illegally.

"If you have a degree acquired illegally it means you are a governor illegally,“ he said. The outspoken senator further said that allowing leaders without proper qualifications to hold different public offices waters down the meaning of education.

"If education and excellence are not important, why do parents run around? Work hard..work very hard. That's what this country needs; men and women of integrity," he added.
