As Mombasa residents go to the polls Tuesday, county governor hopeful Hassan Omar has set up a tallying and calling centre in a bid to guard his votes.

According to a source who spoke to the Star, there are very few people who are privy to the location of the said two centres. They include Omar, his chief agent and some individuals from his secretariat and technical team.“He felt it would be safe to be at a hidden place. No politician with such centres would risk exposing them,” the source told the daily on Monday. It took four weeks to establish the centres and that the final touches were completed last week, added the source. The premises where the centres have been set up have advanced security systems which will be monitored round the clock.“Results will be streaming there and projections done. It is like a command centre. By Wednesday morning, we will know the winner,” said the source. The Wiper secretary general has also roped in some bloggers from his rival’s camp who will be tasked with providing updates on the voting process and project his votes as transmitted in the tallying centre.
