Former Mombasa county senator Hassan Omar has maintained that there is no bad blood between himself and the county boss Hassan Joho despite the two being in the list of nationally known political rivals.
Speaking on JKL Wednesday, Omar, however, said that himself and the governor are not that close saying that what lies between them is a simple friendship which cannot be taken away by their political enmity.
''Myself and the governor are just friends and that cannot be shaken by the fact that I do not approve of his leadership and ran against him in the last polls,'' said Omar
Omar who however admitted that Joho is among the most popular leaders in the entire coastal region, poked holes into his leadership saying that he has failed to use his position to better the county.
The former Wiper Party senator who has since moved to court to have Joho's re-election in the August 8 polls annulled expressed confidence of winning the case predicting that the county will be headed to a re-election within a year.
He stressed that Joho is ineligible to lead the county again based on his bad performance urging residents to replace him with him (Omar).
''I hear him calling himself Sultan but am not sure about that but I must admit that he enjoys massive popularity at the coast. That, however, does not make him a good leader and I will prove that to him by beating him in the by-election and restoring Mombasa's dignity,'' said Omar.
